About Femme Wave

Femme Wave is a feminist arts festival that takes place on Treaty 7 territory and the traditional territory of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakoda (Stoney), and Tsuut’ina, also known as Calgary, Alberta. Founded in 2015, it is a collective-run organization with board and committee members of diverse and varying backgrounds. The festival takes place annually across multiple inner-city venues and has enjoyed considerable growth since its inception.

Mission: To create a safe, positive, and inclusive space for women and non-binary artists

Vision: A local and national arts scene that celebrates and supports women and non-binary artists and provides them with safe spaces and opportunities to share their work

Values:
Creating positive, safe, supportive space/s and opportunity for women and non-binary artists
Applying a punk rock, feminist lens to all arts programming
Championing the creativity of women and people with non-binary identities
Providing opportunities for, and inclusive access to, diverse stories, experiences and perspectives
Educating and being educated about feminist intersectional issues
Facilitating Feminist Fun
Ultimately being badass feminist bitches

Indigenous Policy

Femme Wave works closely with Indigenous Resilience in Music (IRIM) to create safer spaces for Indigenous musicians and attendees at the festival. If you identify as Indigenous, Metis, Inuit or you are of Indigenous descent, please let us know if you would like to connect with an IRIM ambassador. These ambassadors will be available to help meet the needs of Indigenous musicians and attendees in Calgary and those travelling to Femme Wave from reservations or out of province.
