Ruby Smith-Diaz
Ruby Smith-Diaz was born to Chilean and Jamaican parents in Edmonton – amiskwacîwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ) and graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Education with distinction. Since graduating, she has found her passion working as an arts based facilitator and multi-disciplinary artist, and by using art and creativity as tools for activism, empowerment, and community building.
Ruby’s experiences of marginalization as a youth has inspired her to explore challenging topics around identity and decolonization. She is invested in helping individuals develop self-worth and integrity, making them catalysts for change in the world based on their passionate generationally-poignant imaginings. When she is not facilitating, Ruby also works as a video editor and body positive personal trainer.
