All Ages – Pay What You Can
Femme Wave and the Calgary Queer Arts Society are proud to screen shorts about growing into self and community by youth filmmakers. The Youth Queer Media Program (YQMP) is an exciting opportunity for youth who have an exceptional story to tell. Participants work alongside industry professionals to create a short film that represents their unique perspective on queer identity for youth today.
The program is open to any youth between 16-24 years of age, and no previous film experience is required. Short films can be of any genre or type and final films can be up to 15 minutes long.
The program runs each year from December – March and provides the time and tools to create a short film, including workshops with industry professionals in storyboarding, editing, filming, and production.
This is an encore presentation of these films, which initially premiered at Fairy Tales Calgary’s Queer Film Festival in May.
Please note these films deal with complex issues, including intense emotional duress and trauma. This event is all ages, however the films deal with some mature themes. Please reach out to festival volunteers if you need help. We are a community and we exist to support each other.
